DIRECTIONS TO THE CLIPPER SHIP INN

There are many ways to get to historic Salem, Massachusetts. These directions have proven to work for thousands of travelers each year.

From Logan International Airport:
Leave the airport and take a right on to Rt. 1A North (Revere/Lynn). Continue on Rt. 1A pass the entrance to Suffolk Downs Race Track on the right and oil refineries on the left of the divided highway. At the intersection of Rt 1A and Rt. 60 (Revere) you want to begin to follow Rt. 60. You will pass several fast food establishments, the Northgate Shopping Center, and the Sheraton Four Points. After the Sheraton Four Points you will enter a rotary. Take the first right off the rotary on to Rt. 1 North. Follow Rt. 1 North to Rt. 128 towards Gloucester/Salem. Then follow the directions from Rt. 128 North and the Liberty Street light.

From West of Boston (NY, NJ, PA, CT, etc:
Follow I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) to I-95 to Rt. 128 Gloucester exit. At exit 45 Rt. 128 and I-95 spilt. Follow Rt. 128 towards Salem/Gloucester. Then follow the directions from Rt. 128 and the Liberty Street light.

From Maine & New Hampshire
Take I-95 South to Topsfield, MA. Exit on to Rt. 1 South. Shortly after exiting on to Rt. 1 South exit on to Rt. 62 Danvers/Beverly. Continue on Rt. 62 (Elliott Street) for several miles until you reach the junction of Rt. 62 and 128 in Danvers. Go under the bridge for Rt. 128 proceeding to the light at the corner of Rt. 62 and Liberty Street. From here follow the directions from The Liberty Street light.

From Rt. 128 North
From Rt. 128 North take exit 22 East on to Rt. 62 - Beverly. At the bottom of the ramp, take a right and immediately go through the stop lights at that intersection of Liberty Street. From here follow the directions from The Liberty Street light.

From Rt. 128 & The Liberty Street Light
Continue on Rt. 62 East. About 7/10 of a mile, go left at the fork in the road. Continue approzimately 1 mile going pass Stop & Shop Supermarket on the right. Go over 2 sets of railroad tracks. At the next light take a right on to Rantoul Street (Rt 1A South). There will be a Century Bank on the corner. Continue on Rantoul Street to the end where it meets the Beverly/Salem Bridge. Go over the bridge to Salem. At the light at the bottom of the bridge turn left on to Route 1A to Swampscott. This is also Bridge Street in Salem!

The Clipper Ship Inn is approximately 500 ft. on the right side of the street. Go straight in to the driveway. Look for the office sign in fornt of the new building.

Green Transit

Train & Bus: Train service is available on the Newburyport/Rockport Commuter Rail Line from Boston's North Station. At the Salem Depot, exit up the stairs. It is a five-minute walk to the Visitor Center. Bus service is availabe on bus #450 or #455 from Boston's Haymarket Square. For train and bus information, contact the MBTA for more information at (800) 392-6100 or www.mbta.com. It takes approximately 30 minutes to travel between Salem and Boston by train, and one hour by bus.

Ferry: Ferry service from Boston is available with a fast, comfortable ride in only 45 minutes from Boston's Central Wharf, home of the New England Aquarium. Scheduled service runs early in the morning and late into the evening. In 2008, ferry service is available from May 23 until November 2. Schedule, fares and reservations are available from www.salemferry.com.
